Formula 3 – Premiere in Slovakia
18 August 2025

Drexler Formula Cup – Slovakia Ring (SVK)
After the races at the Hockenheimring, the Drexler Formula Cup will be heading to Slovakia for its fourth event weekend (22–24 August 2025). For the first time, the formula series will make its mark on the 5.923-kilometre-long circuit, located 30 kilometres from Bratislava. The race track was designed by Austrian architect Hans Roth and has six different variants. A new feature for the Slovakiaring are four artificially constructed elevations, which give the race track an incomparable character. These certainly include the 20-metre-wide start/finish straight, which is designed for overtaking manoeuvres in the early stages of the race. In 2009, the Slovakia Ring joined the network of European circuits and, from 2012 onwards, was able to present top-class motorsport with the WTCC, WTCR and GT racing series from the FIA GT1 and FIA GT3 camps. The ADAC GT Masters also visited Slovakia in 2013 and 2014.
For most of the drivers and teams from the Drexler Formula Cup, the Slovakia Ring is uncharted territory. Accordingly, the cards are being reshuffled. After his double victory at Hockenheim, Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) has fought his way to the top in Formula 3. Berta is one of the few drivers with experience of the race track in Slovakia, having competed there in Formula 4. Sandro Zeller is currently just behind the Hungarian and does not want to let the gap get too big. Behind them are Andrea Benalli (Puresport) and Stig Larsen (Franz Wöss Racing), the pursuers in Formula 3. Andre Petropoulos (Team Hoffmann Racing) has been the new leader in the Formula 3 Trophy since Hockenheim. He put in a fantastic performance in Baden and was only beaten by Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) in the first race. Davide Pedetti (Nannini Racing) and Lee Cunningham (Jo Zeller Racing) are lurking behind Petropoulos with promising prospects in the season, which still has four race weekends to go.
Austrian Michael Fischer (LRT Racing) made a big impression on his Formula Light debut at Hockenheim. With his double victory, Fischer is likely to travel to Slovakia with a lot of confidence. In the Formula Renault category, Portuguese driver Luis Agular (Viola Formula Racing) is still at the top of the standings. Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) and Nicolas Löffler (Franz Wöss Racing) are also in with a chance in the leading group. Dr Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing) can also hope for a podium finish. The Drexler Formula Cup will complete free practice on Friday morning (22 August) and qualifying will take place at 3.05 p.m. The first race will take place on Saturday (23 August) at 10:05 a.m. On Sunday (24 August), the lights will turn green for the second race at 11:05 a.m.
