Drexler Automotive Formula Cup

"With the final race in Misano, we have successfully concluded this year's season. The last race was once again full of excitement and ultimately crowned Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) as a worthy champion, who stood out from the competition above all through his consistency. Our thanks go to the participants and teams, as well as the sponsors and supporters of our formula series, which enjoys international recognition in Europe and is one of the strongest formula racing series," says coordinator Franz Wöss. With the introduction of four formula categories, the Drexler Formula Cup has realised some of the interests of the participants and teams. This strategy was a complete success and, with 70 drivers from 11 nations, the goal of continuing to provide a platform for formula racing was achieved in a forward-looking manner. It should be emphasised here that the cooperation with TopJet Formula 2000 from Italy is working extremely well. Both series guaranteed exciting formula racing in the seven races. These included four Formula 1 tracks: Monza, Mugello, Hockenheim and Imola. "On the one hand, we are considering the sporting orientation with a view to the future. We must not forget the economic challenges with generally increased costs for racing series and race track operators in Europe. This is where the aspects of how we should continue the formula series with manageable costs come together. This results in decisions about how to plan the racing calendar," Franz Wöss continues, describing the situation in the Drexler Formula Cup. The aim of racing on attractive circuits in Europe will remain the same for next season. For the formula series spearheaded by Formula 3, Formula 1 circuits are considered a particular challenge.

 

Drexler Formula 3 Cup

Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) clinched his eighth Drexler Formula Cup title at the finale in Misano and won the Formula 3 Cup category. His closest rival, Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing), struggled with technical problems during the final race weekend and was unable to defend his title. Zeller drove with the necessary consistency in 2025 and won six times during the season. Benjamin Berta also achieved six race wins, but the Hungarian did not compete at the Slovakiaring. This probably tipped the scales in Sandro Zeller's favour in the final standings. Third place in the Formula 3 Cup went to Andrea Benalli (Puresport), who won a race at Mugello and, with three further podium finishes, relegated Stig Larsen (Franz Wöss Racing) to fourth place in the final standings. Dino Rasero (Puresport) finished fifth, pushing his compatriot Enzo Stendella (One Competition) down to seventh place. With a total of 13 cars, the Formula 3 Cup was well attended. The drivers came from six different countries. Italy was the most strongly represented in terms of numbers. Six drivers put their trust in the new generation of cars from Dallara. The Dallara F320 was considered the favourite for overall victory. Sandro Zeller refuted this favourite status with his Dallara F312. On the engine side, two different manufacturers were represented with Mercedes and Volkswagen, with Mercedes emerging as the winner.

 

Drexler Formula 3 Trophy

The Formula 3 Trophy category was well represented this year with a total of 23 drivers from six nations. Accordingly, the seven race weekends were highly competitive, and it was not until the final in Misano that Andre Petropoulos was confirmed as the winner. The Formula 3 driver, who races for Team Hoffmann Racing, impressed in 2025 with his enormous consistency, finishing on the podium nine times in the Formula 3 Trophy. The 21-year-old from Maichingen won the second race at Hockenheim. Although Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing), who finished third in the season, threw everything into the mix with a double victory in the final, Andre Petropoulos' lead was enough to secure the title. Lee Cunningham (Jo Zeller Racing) finished second behind the German. He got off to a flying start to the season with his opening victory at Monza and made it onto the podium a total of seven times. Davide Pedetti (Nannini Racing) finished fourth in the Formula 3 Trophy ahead of defending champion Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing), who, however, only competed in four races in 2025. In the Formula 3 Trophy classification, all teams relied on the proven Dallara chassis. A total of seven different engine manufacturers were represented in the Formula 3 field. It is worth noting that the OPC Challenge engine came out on top in the Formula 3 Trophy.

 

Drexler Formula Light Cup

The Formula Light Cup category was in fine form in 2025 with cars from Formula Renault 2.0. With a total of 26 participants from eight nations, the category was really well represented. Michael Fischer (LRT Racing) immediately made his mark as a newcomer to the Drexler Formula Cup. The Austrian came, saw and conquered. He did not compete in the first two events in Monza and Mugello. After that, the season went smoothly for Michael Fischer. Not only did he finish on the podium in ten consecutive races, he also won seven times in commanding fashion. There was not much left for the competition to fight for. Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) made a statement with a double victory in Misano at the end of the season. Nicolas Löffler (Franz Wöss Racing) had a consistent season and was rewarded with third place in the Formula Light Cup. Sarene Ziffel, who finished fourth, competed in four events in 2025 and proved her talent in Formula Renault on several occasions. Luis Aguiar (Viola Formula Racing) finished fifth ahead of Norbert Groer (Team Hoffmann Racing), who had certainly expected more from this season.

 

Drexler Formula Regional

In the newly created Formula Regional category, there was a first in 2025 with two winners. Jeremy Clavaud (Team STAC) and Christof Ledermann (Puresport) were tied at the top after the final. Newcomer Luca Iannaccone made the leap from Formula 3 to Formula Regional, finishing third. Mattia Bagioni (Puresport) came fourth ahead of Sebastien Banchereau (Neri Autosport). Seven Formula Regional race cars competed in the category. Tatuus provided the chassis with the Tatuus F.3 T-318. Two engine manufacturers were integrated: Renault and Alfa Romeo.
