Drexler Automotive Formula Cup – Imola (ITA)

The Autodromo ‘Enzo e Dino Ferrari’ will host the sixth round of the Drexler Formula Cup this coming weekend (26-28 September 2025). In cooperation with Topjet Formula 2000, the Drexler Formula Cup will return to Italy after the season opener in Monza and the race in Mugello. Imola will also host the next round of the Italian circuit racing championships. With the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, the Sports Prototype Championship and the Italian GT3 Championship (Sprint), top-class racing series will be making an appearance on the Formula 1 track at the ACI Racing Weekend. After the last two sprint races in Brno (CZE), a strong field of starters is expected in Imola for the Drexler Formula Cup. ‘Every season, the teams and drivers show great interest in the event in Imola. The penultimate race weekend of the season heralds the final autumn. We are excited to see whether preliminary decisions will already be made,’ says coordinator Franz Wöss.

Imola will see another clash with the drivers from Topjet Formula 2000. Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) has put himself in a very good starting position with his double victory in Brno in Formula 3. His fiercest rival remains Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing). The Swiss driver stayed close behind Berta in both races in Czechia and also has high hopes for Imola. Andrea Benalli (Puresport), Stig Larsen (Franz Wöss Racing) and Kurt Böhlen (Jo Zeller Racing) are three drivers close behind the leading duo. In the Formula 3 Trophy, Andre Petropoulos (Team Hoffmann Racing) has put himself in a good starting position. He recently stood on the podium twice in Brno. Vaclav Safar (GT2 Motorsport) scored a double victory in the Formula 3 Trophy at his home race in a Dallara F312 Toyota fielded by Team Hoffmann. The Czech driver was initially mistakenly listed by race control in the Formula 3 Cup. Safar will also be on the grid at Imola and has his sights set on the podium again.

Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) continued to improve in Brno. However, he had to give way to his team-mate Lee Cunningham twice. Oliver Kratsch (Facondini Racing) showed surprisingly strong form in Brno, finishing on the podium in the second race. In the Formula Light Cup, Austrian Michael Fischer (LRT Racing) has had an incredible track record since his season debut in Hockenheim. He has scored three double victories with his Formula Renault. Fischer faces strong competition in Imola. Luis Aguiar (Viola Formula Racing) and Karim Sartori (Speed Motor) are among the closest favourites in this category, which is very strongly contested by Formula Renault racing cars. The ACI Racing Weekend kicks off on Friday (26 September) for the Drexler Formula Cup with free practice at 9:00 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Qualifying will take place at 4.50 pm. On Saturday (27 September), the lights will turn green for the first race at 11.20 am. The second race will take place on Sunday at 9.00 am.
