Swiss day in Styria

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Red Bull Ring (AUT)

At the 2nd round of the Drexler Formula Cup, the Swiss Formula 3 drivers made their mark on the Red Bull Ring. Although they were unable to stop the day's winner Paolo Brajnik (SRB) in the more powerful E2-2000 Dallara in both races, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing), Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) and F3 returnee Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) determined the Formula -3 standings. Sandro Zeller had secured pole position in the rainy qualifying and was able to leave Brajnik behind. In the first race on Saturday afternoon in dry conditions Brajnik used his horsepower advantage on the long straights of the Formula 1 track. Sandro Zeller held his own in the beginning, but had to let Brajnik go. Thomas Aregger stayed within striking distance of Zeller for a long time and kept Marcel Tobler behind him, who was fighting with the E2-2000 drivers Vladimir Netusil (Effective Racing) and Janos Magyar (Magyar Racing (Team) for the connection to the top. Behind the Swiss trio, Stefan Fürtbauer (Franz Wöss Racing) crossed the finish line ahead of Danny Luderer (Vogtland Racing) and Luca Iannaccone (Facondi Racing) after the 18-lap chase in the Formula 3 classification.
