Andrea Cola victorious at home game

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Mugello (ITA)

After two turbulent races the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup enters its summer break. At the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, the 5th race was a big one. The winner of the weekend was Andrea Cola (Monolite Racing). From the start, the Roman set the pace on the MotoGP circuit north of Florence. In the 1st race Cola had to deal with Tom Beckhäuser (Franz Wöss Racing) over the whole race distance. The Czech had taken pole position with a 1:42.827 min and was able to leave Andrea Cola 0,138 seconds behind in qualifying.

After the start between Cola and Beckhäuser on the 5,245 km long track a fight of the extra class developed. Both were only a blink apart. In the twelfth lap Beckhäuser stuck again to the rear wing of Cola. During an overtaking manoeuvre it came to a touch. The race control decided to stop the race. Cola and Beckhäuser got a time penalty. From the point of view of the race control, the eleventh lap was taken into account as the finish. Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing), who until then had been in third position, inherited the victory. Dino Rasero (Puresport) was second while Andrea Cola climbed to the podium with third place and Tom Beckhäuser was able to displace fourth place. Kurt Böhlen (Franz Wöss Racing) finished fifth, while Antoine Bottiroli (GFORCE Racing) left points behind due to his sixth place.
In the 2nd race on Sunday morning Andrea Cola put everything on one card and won after the 14 lap chase. Cola had improved over the whole weekend and in the 2nd free practice he set the first warning sign with the fastest time, followed by the second best qualifying time. Antoine Bottiroli used his chance in the overall standings to have a say in the podium places. 0.704 seconds behind Cola he finished second. Behind Bottiroli Dino Rasero was third in the group of pursuers. Tom Beckhäuser could not pass his rival and missed the podium again. Kurt Böhlen was a good fifth. His compatriot Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) finished 6th. Sandro Zeller, who was promising in the race and duelled with Andrea Cola, didn't get a chance. On lap eleven Cola touched Sandro Zeller's F3-Dallara. The Swiss was hit at the right rear wheel and flew into the gravel. The subsequent safety car phase and the subsequent re-start had no influence on the outcome of the race. In the Formula 3 Trophy classification Urs Rüttimann won both races in a commanding manner ahead of Florian Münger (both Jo Zeller Racing) and Luca Iannaccone (Franz Wöss Racing). Nico Gruber (TEAM HOFFMAN Racing) lived up to his role as favourite in Formula Renault. He won both races ahead of Matej Kacovsky and Dr.Norbert Groer.
