Season start at the ACI Racing Weekend in Monza (ITA)

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup

Next weekend (05.-07.04.19) the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup starts the new season. A total of seven events are scheduled for 2019. The new motorsport year also begins for the Italian circuit scene in the royal park of Monza. With the TCR Italy Touring Car Championship, the Campionato Italiano Sport Prototipi and the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, top-class racing series will be on site. As in the previous year, the F.2000 Italy Trophy will be combined with the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup. "We expect a great field at the season opener and have 24 cars on the grid. Formula 3 clearly accounts for the lion's share," coordinator Franz Wöss looks ahead. For Formula 3, the 5.793 kilometre Formula 1 circuit at Monza is the fastest racetrack in this year's Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup. The Formula 3 racing cars reach average speeds of around 190 km/h here.

The starting field is led by title defender Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing). As last year, the competition is asking itself how to stop the Swiss. In 2018 Zeller only managed one victory in Monza. Nevertheless, the omens speak for the reigning champion. The resistance for Sandro Zeller will increase. Andrea Cola (Monolite Racing) is the runner-up at the start. Last year Cola had a great season in Formula 3 and leads the list of followers who want to make life as difficult as possible for Zeller this year. Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) and Kurt Böhlen (Franz Wöss Racing) as well as the Italians, Ricardo Perego (Twister Italia), Andrea Benalli (Puresport) and Marco Marotta (Pave Motorsport) are some of the contenders for the podium. Not to be underestimated are Antonio Pellegrino (Scuderia Antonio) and Daniel Tampinos. The newcomer from Greece will start for Franz Wöss Racing for the first time. With Florian Münger, the 2018 champion of Formula Renault will change to Formula 3. Münger will start at the opening for Jo Zeller Racing. Altogether the drivers in Formula 3, Formula Renault and Formula 4 will fight for trophies in four categories. In addition, there will be the two sub-ratings for Germany and Switzerland. This season there will be the RAVENOL Formula 3 Cup. The lubricant manufacturer is active as a technical partner in the formula series. HORAG Hotz Racing AG has taken over a partnership for the SWISS Formula 3 Cup. Both companies are top-class industrial equipment suppliers in the motorsport industry. The start will be in Monza on Friday (05.04.19) at 8.30 a.m. with free practice. The qualifying will take place around 17.30 hrs. The 1st run will take place on Saturday (06.04.19) at 16.40 hrs. On Sunday (07.04.19) the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup starts at 10.10 o'clock for the 2nd race. "We want to continue this season the proven. Our thanks go in particular to Drexler Automotive, which will support us outstandingly as our main sponsor in 2019," says Franz Wöss.
